Mountain Lion hits 3 million downloads.

Apple's latest operating system, OS X Mountain Lion has become a worldwide hit with over 3 million downloads in four days since its release.

OS X 10.8 is Apple's ninth iteration of the OS X operating system. It comes with many new features like the Notification Centre, iCloud integration, Game Center, AirPlay Mirroring, Dictation and Facebook integration. There is also a revolutionary new feature called Power Nap that allows a Macbook to download software updates, sync with iTunes, check email and perform Time Machine backups, all while in deep sleep mode.

Users can download an upgrade for Mountain Lion from the Apple app store for $20.

Philip Schiller, senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing for Apple said: "Just a year after the incredibly successful introduction of Lion, customers have downloaded Mountain Lion over three million times in just four days, making it our most successful release ever."
