TELECOMWORLDWIRE-23 November 2009-Motorola announces acquisition of RadioFrame Networks' iDEN business(C)1994-2009 M2 COMMUNICATIONS http://www.m2.com
Broadband and wireless communications company Motorola Inc (NYSE:MOT) announced on Friday the acquisition of radio access solutions provider RadioFrame Networks' iDEN business.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not revealed.
Motorola said RadioFrame's iDEN products will enhance its portfolio for multi-channel base stations optimised to support non-contiguous spectrum allocations in the special mobile radio (SMR) business, particularly common outside North America.
For the company's iDEN customers, RadioFrame's base stations can manage non-contiguous spectrum channels and its technology offers a lower cost architecture with an efficient use of power amplifiers, a smaller physical footprint and more flexibility in site management.
In addition, RadioFrame's iDEN technology offers lower power consumption, reducing operating expenses.
RadioFrame Networks' iDEN business will be integrated into Motorola's Home & Networks Mobility business.
