CHILD seat manufacturer Kiddy is recalling 1, 650 of its Top Safe seats bought between March 2003 and November 2004.

They were marketed by Sicartex via the dealer networks of Mercedes Benz and Opel and are being recalled due to a production deficiency in the ISO-Fix hook attachment system.

The company is asking customers to take the Top Safe seats involved back to the dealers because the hook attachment system does not comply with safety specifications, as a result of which the child seat could become detached in an accident.

AN average pounds 5, 000 will be wiped off the value of every new car bought this year, according to new research.

Sainsbury's Bank says some 2. 4 million new cars will be purchased this year, which will collectively lose around pounds 12bn in value after 12 months.

In response, the company has launched a car purchase scheme, Drive, which calculates monthly payments based on the car's depreciation plus the interest, rather than its purchase price.

Monthly payments are fixed at the outset on the guaranteed future value of the vehicle and the bank takes the risks of any further depreciation.
