Motoring: Price hike likely for revised Vectra.

A NIP and tuck for the best of luck is the fate of Vauxhall's Vectra, which may get a price hike into the bargain.

The refreshed models arrive here in early autumn and Vauxhall says that new prices for them will be announced next month, which indicates a likely rise.

The latest incarnations of the Vectra are completely new from the windscreen forward, and there are also new wheel designs, a re-profiled back bumper on some models and a revised range of colours.

The interior gets new materials including a soft-touch facia, new seat fabrics, extra door trim inserts and a new instrument panel. There is also a smaller-diameter steering wheel.

Suspension and chassis tweaks coincide with the arrival of a new 2.8-litre turbocharged V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission at the top of the range.

The best sellers are expected to continue to be the 1.9CDTi turbodiesel models in both 120bhp and 150bhp forms. A new 1.8-litre petrol model with a power output of 140bhp will be added next spring
