Motor racing: Trulli announces Renault exit.

Jarno Trulli is to leave Renault at the end of the season. The Italian is the only driver to have beaten Michael Schumacher this season, with his maiden grand prix win in Monaco, but has not been able to agree a new contract at Renault.

His current deal expires at the end of the season and will leave despite positive signs that a new contract was close. The money on offer was believed to be the sticking point.

Trulli has been strongly linked with Toyota and in announcing his Renault departure, he hinted that deal has already been done. In a statement he said: 'I hereby announce that I will be leaving the Renault team at the end of 2004. I am happy with this decision.'
