PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 2003

Motiva, Inc., the technology leader for enterprise incentive management (EIM) software, today announced general availability of Motiva 9, a major new release of its EIM suite. A number of significant new technology advances in Motiva 9 extend and accelerate Motiva's significant lead over all other EIM vendors in the market. Motiva 9 is the first EIM solution to provide single-instance, multi-currency and multi-language capabilities for global organizations. In addition, Motiva 9 delivers advanced incentive plan modeling, data visualization capabilities, embedded workflow technology and Web Services integration providing access to external data and applications.

Motiva EIM helps customers gain a competitive advantage by rewarding revenue-generating activities while significantly reducing both fixed costs and administrative overhead. With Motiva, business users can easily design incentive plans, track results and perform sophisticated performance analysis to support strategic business decisions with the most intuitive and usable solution in the EIM market. Motiva provides the lowest cost of ownership, highest ROI and fastest deployment of any EIM solution.

Along with the announcement of Motiva 9 and in direct response to prospect requests, Motiva also announced its new "Motiva Exchange Program." This program targets current Callidus, Centive, and Synygy customers dissatisfied with their existing implementations and considering alternative solutions for EIM. The Exchange Program makes it financially attractive for companies to trade-in and trade-up to Motiva 9. Motiva will perform a full review of existing functional, technical and integration requirements to develop a formal Motiva implementation plan, enabling participants to reuse existing back-end integration efforts and to convert to Motiva in an accelerated timeframe. Customers that trade-up to Motiva 9 can take advantage of significant pricing incentives.

"We rely on Motiva 8 currently to deliver EIM for our financial services sales force," said Mark Raburn, VP Customer Information, at First Tennessee Bank. "We are very excited about the increased ease of use, process automation and other new functionality in Motiva 9. Motiva 9 Modeling will make it much easier to tailor our comp plans to our decentralized market needs."

"Motiva 9 is the most important product release in our eight year history and it will continue to make Motiva the fastest growing player in the EIM market," said Jeff Carr, president and CEO of Motiva, Inc. "Motiva 9 sets the agenda for high-performance enterprise incentive management software and is helping our customers build competitive advantage and generate new revenue. We have the best technology, the most extensive EIM functionality, and the best usability on the market today, and only Motiva delivers 100 percent Internet architecture combined with the industry's most powerful analytics engine to give our customers real-time visibility of their incentive plans. Organizations are embracing technology innovation, business process best practices, and Web Services for interoperability, and Motiva is once again at the forefront of this trend."

Motiva 9: Technology Platform and Application Modules

Motiva 9 delivers a comprehensive set of EIM application modules designed to enable business users to align the performance of teams and individuals with strategic goals across the enterprise. Motiva EIM is the first and only EIM solution based on a 100 percent Internet architecture. The zero-footprint client, n-tier, J2EE-based Motiva EIM Technology Platform is built for portability, scalability, and security, ensuring ease of access and deployment, low cost of ownership, and rapid ROI.

Tightly integrated with the Motiva EIM Technology Platform, Motiva 9 applications include Plan Management, Modeling, Analytics & Reporting, Dispute Resolution, Territory & Quota Management, and EIM Dashboards. The Motiva EIM Suite allows business users to create, modify and manage incentive plans simply by entering or changing data without requiring custom coding. The Motiva Business Rules engine drives the entire application suite, making business-critical data available within every Motiva application module.

New and enhanced features in Motiva 9 include:

Globalization

Only Motiva delivers a true global architecture for global organizations, including multi-currency and multi-language capabilities within a single instance of the software. Motiva 9 has been localized for English (American and UK), French (Continental and Canadian), Spanish (Continental and Latin American) and German. Users everywhere can easily switch language interfaces on the fly without the need for IT resources or additional programming.

Advanced Modeling

Only Motiva delivers a one-of-a-kind modeling capability that allows managers, executives and administrators to simulate the results of new compensation plans and determine the impact of any modifications to existing plans. Using current, historical or projected transactional data, users can create, modify and run an unlimited number of scenarios that forecast future outcomes without affecting the production environment. Users can compare and collaborate on multiple distinct scenarios to arrive at the optimal plan to meet corporate objectives. The planning dashboard allows users to view performance and payout distribution curves in each scenario and analyze costs versus budget and return on incentive investment.

Embedded Workflow

Motiva Workflow, a fully configurable, embedded workflow engine, automates key EIM processes such as dispute-resolution and approvals. The workflow engine can be used to configure every aspect of a business process by providing information and action triggers to specific project participants. Whether it's an adjustment, a split request or a new compensation plan requiring executive approval, all workflows can be automated and tracked through to completion as closed-looped processes. Motiva's workflow capabilities lay the foundation for enforcing business policy, resulting in reduced error rates, cycle times and costs associated with incentive management tasks. In addition, automated workflow builds end-user confidence in the reliability and effectiveness of the system, enabling users to focus on meeting corporate objectives rather than tracking requests and disputes.

Web Services Integration

Recognizing that customer-driven business processes involve data from multiple applications and data sources, Motiva ensures interoperability by supporting Web Services and standards-based integration through our Open Integration Framework.

New in Motiva 9, Motiva application service interfaces, built using standards such as Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and Web Service Definition Language (WSDL) expose Motiva business services and processes as Web Services. These service interfaces provide the ability to exchange data with externally defined Web Services for seamless business process execution. This is critical for organizations that need to obtain real-time information such as currency rates or eligibility data from external systems for use in specific plans.

Object Migration

Motiva 9 also includes new capabilities to move plan definition data within the Motiva application. Object migration is particularly useful during the initial development and customization of the Motiva EIM Suite in that it drastically reduces the time and errors associated with the migration of plan definition data from existing systems into the development, test and production environment. Object migration functionality is yet another way in which Motiva customers can realize rapid ROI and lower TCO.
