MosChip Semiconductor Ships Customer Evaluation and Production Units of New High-Speed USB to Serial Bridge Chips.

New MCS7840 and MCS7820 Target Many Customer Applications

HYDERABAD, India -- MosChip Semiconductor Technology Limited, a leading provider of high performance connectivity solutions for consumer, industrial and computing applications, is pleased to announce that it has begun shipment of mass production units of two new devices, MCS7840 and MCS7820 and evaluation boards have been shipped to over 20 potential target customers. The MCS7840 integrates four high performance Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitters (UARTs) and a High-speed USB compliant device interface in a single 64-pin package. The MCS7820 provides two UARTs and a High-speed USB compliant device interface in a single 48-pin package. The chips provide high level of integration and functionality to help designers dramatically simply their designs and reduce the bill of material cost.

The MCS7840 and MCS7820 takes advantage of MosChip's expertise and experience in serial connectivity to address the need of customers to increase the performance and reduce the size of their products. The MCS7840 and MCS7820 will be used in next generation Point-of-Sale Terminals, industrial automation and instrumentation systems.

MosChip Semiconductor will be supporting its latest high performance bridge solution with complete software support including embedded firmware, drivers for Windows 98, 2000, XP and Vista as well as Wince, Linux and MacOS, and evaluation boards and copy-ready schematics.

The MCS7840 is priced at $5.50 USD in 1,000 piece quantities. The MCS7820 is priced at $4.00 in 1000 piece quantity.
