Morocco celebrates King Mohammed VI 15th year on throne.

Muscat: A celebration to commemorate the crowning of Morocco's King Mohammed VI's, known as Throne Day, was hosted by Moroccan Ambassador Tariq Al Husaisan, Wednesday evening in Muscat. Eid Al Arch is celebrated on July 30 each year to mark King Mohammed VI's 1999 ascension to the throne following the death of his father, King Hassan II. During his reign, ties with Oman and the members of the GCC have expanded, while within Morocco the King has instituted a number of political reforms reducing his own power and strengthening the Moroccan Parliament. Al Husaisan said it was a great pleasure to commemorate the occasion in Muscat, where traditional Moroccan tea and specialities, such as chicken bastilla and lamb couscous, were served. He said relations between Oman and Muscat have been growing stronger over the past few decades. "It is always important to point out the relationship between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Morocco, mainly based on trust and mutual respect under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who directed our two countries' march with prudence and efficiency," Al Husaisan said. Relations between Oman and Morocco are based largely on trade, tourism, industry and real estate. The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Moroccan Centre for Export Promotion. "We ask Allah to give us His blessing, to sustain the security, stability, further development and prosperity of both countries," Al Husaisan added. To get in touch:
