Morocco : Network of Election Monitoring Associations to Mobilize 1250 Observers.

Network of election monitoring associations (CAOE) announced, here Monday, the mobilization of 1250 observers throughout Morocco's twelve regions for the 2016 legislative elections, due on October 7.

In a press conference, the CAOE, which gave a presentation on its preparations for the upcoming legislative elections, said that 750 observers will monitor the voting process in the polling stations, while 500 others will be assigned to oversee the various stages of the electoral process (pre-campaign, campaign and election day).

CAOE also said that its preparations for the next elections have started last July by the setting up of a working body and the organization of training sessions in the field of election monitoring.

During this conference, the network highlighted the crucial role of media in the electoral process, and called for raising citizens' awareness of the importance of their participation in the political life and their management of public affairs.

CAOE's mission is to observe the electoral process, strengthen the awareness of civil society, ensure good electoral practice, and consolidate the democratic process.
