BEAVERS TO HOST PILOTS: The Oregon State women's basketball team, which has lost two of its past three games, plays host to the University of Portland at 7 tonight in Gill Coliseum in Corvallis.
The Beavers, 3-3 after defeating New Mexico on Sunday, never have lost to the Pilots, currently 5-0. Oregon State leads the series 11-0. Portland already has defeated Oregon this season.
Oregon State, which is shooting just 51 percent from the free-throw line but owns the best three-point field-goal shooting defense (.281) among Pac-10 Conference teams, is led by senior guard Felicia Ragland, who is averaging nearly 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals a game.
Portland has four players scoring in double figures - Ashlee Giles (15.6), Khalila O'Reilly-Williams (14.6), Da'Love Woods (12.4) and Tami Standish (11.2). O'Reilly-Williams also is averaging a team-high 8.2 rebounds a game.
DUCKS SIGN TENNIS PLAYER: The University of Oregon women's tennis team signed Jamie Marshall to a letter of intent Wednesday.
Marshall, from Las Vegas, is the No. 1-ranked 18-and-under junior player in the USTA Intermountain section. She will compete for the Ducks during the fall of 2002.
