The saga continues in this third volume of Morgan's Dispossessed series, a story fraught with the demon-fighting, gargoyle-assisted, suspenseful antics of the Waverly family. Once again, the youngsters must outwit the enemy while maintaining their relationships and goals in life. The protagonists must band together, using their unusual powers (be prepared to suspend disbelief once again). The guidance of mentors and the bonds of friendship and family guide them once more. Young readers will have no trouble jumping from London to Paris, following all the various categories of angels, demons, the Alliance, and the castes of gargoyles and their concomitant power struggles, which are not unlike the state of affairs in our world today. The evil Axia's threat to the order of things pervades the story. The powers that fuel the humans' gifts keep Gabby, now in London, and her siblings in Paris in control.

The rich history and culture of both locations lend depth and texture to the saga. This fast-paced tale will enthrall teens who have been devouring this somewhat bloody series. It veers away from the vampire trend but maintains the mythic mood.--Jane Murphy.
