More washouts on the cards tomorrow.

THE total abandonment of York has cost the bookmaking industry pounds 200m - according to Kate Miller of William Hill - and layers could face further financial batterings tomorrow.

Newcastle stage a noon inspection today with Gosforth Park being waterlogged in places.

Further north, officials at Hamilton look at 2pm after yesterday's card was a late casualty due to the wet weather.

An unsafe patch of ground on the pull-up after the winning line caused yesterday's fixture to be called off just before noon.

The going is now described as soft, waterlogged in places.

"Given the amount of rain we have to call an inspection," said clerk of the course Hazel Peplinski. "Most of the track is absolutely fine, but we had to abandon today as there is a waterlogged patch just after the winning line in the pull up. "

Horse Racing Ireland have taken measures in an attempt to ensure Tralee's last ever meeting is not lost. The cards from Tuesday and Wednesday of this week have been rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday of next week.
