More Rooms At The Inn

The owners of The Park Hilton in Hot Springs will expand their reach into Jonesboro next month when they assume ownership of the 135-room Ramada Inn.

You'll recall the debt-laden Jonesboro hotel defaulted on a $3.5-million note this August and ended up in the hands of Chrysler First Business Credit Corp., a temporary home that Spa City hotelier Robert Haupt was happy to rescue it from.

"We're real optimistic about the Jonesboro market," says Haupt, president of the Hot Springs purchasing group. "It's a steak-and-potatoes business."

In layman's language, that means Jonesboro's lodging market is steady, year-round, unlike Hot Springs' seasonal fluctuations.
