The following plants thrive in full sun except where noted.

Bacopa (Sutera cordata). Trailing perennial. Blooms until frost, producing five-petaled flowers. 'Giant Snowflake' bears 1/2-inch blooms; 'Snowstorm' resembles 'Giant Snowflake' but blooms more profusely and tolerates more heat. Needs rich soil and good drainage. Afternoon shade in hot inland areas. Pretty in hanging baskets.

Cosmos (C. bipinnatus 'Sonata White'). Annual. Blossoms are 3 inches wide with tufted yellow centers above ferny foliage; blooms into fall (keep spent blossoms picked off). Grows 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall.

Madagascar periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus). Perennial usually grown as an annual. Phloxlike white flowers cover glossy green foliage summer into fall. Needs good drainage; avoid overwatering. Grows 1 to 2 feet tall.

Zinnia angustifolia 'Star White'. Annual. Star-shaped flowers with yellow centers bloom prolifically above narrow green leaves. Grows 1 foot tall.
