More patrols to beat Christmas thieves.

CHRISTMAS shoppers in Brighouse are being urged to take steps to steer clear of criminals.

Lower Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out extra patrols in the town centre.

But Insp Mohammed Nawaz said customers could be extra cautious.

He said: "This is a busy time for us all and I want everyone to enjoy the festive season but I want everyone to bear in mind that there are individuals who will not hesitate to ruin it. It is important that Christmas shoppers take some simple precautions such as keeping a close eye on their belongings and that they don't display valuables in cars."

He also urged householders to hide valuables and Christmas gifts from view.
