More like this, please; OLIVER TWIST TUE, SKY MOVIES 2,10 am & 6pm.

There have been countless adaptations of Charles Dickens' classic novel over the years, such as David Lean's acclaimed 1948 offering and the lavish 1968C a rol Reed musical.

This Roman Polanski drama is decidedly darker, with screen stalwart Ben Kingsley delivering a chilling performance as the miserly Fagin - a career criminal who uses homeless youngsters to line his pockets by stealing from the wealthy.

The latest addition to his juvenile gang is kind-hearted and naive Oliver, an orphan who e scapes the brutal workhouse to seek his fortune in London.

Unfortunately, once resident in the capital he learns some more harsh realities. Relative newcomer Barney Clark stars as Oliver and breaks hearts with his emotional turn, but the star of the show is Jamie Foreman, who plays baddie Bill Sykes.
