More ditch cars and opt for buses.

More residents are leaving their cars at home and taking the bus according to figures released today.

Bus company Stagecoach says almost 300,000 passengers travelled on their Just Go buses connecting Graig y Rhacca and Senghenydd to Caerphilly and Cardiff since the launch of the Kick Start initiative.

The figures show an 18 per cent increase.

The Senghenydd route has seen the biggest rise in passenger numbers with an increase of 21.7 per cent compared to the same quarter last year.

As part of the Kick Start initiative, bus frequencies on routes to Caerphilly have been increased to every 10 minutes, Monday to Saturday, during the day, with a half-hourly service to Cardiff.
