More big bangs for your bucks; Games.

Byline: With KEVIN LYNCH

PS3, Xbox 360, PC

After seeing the fifth game in the series get mixed reviews, Capcom has plugged every hole in their shambling zombie flagship with more guts, more explosions and about four times the content of Resi 5.

As ever, the plot is straight B-Movie material - bioterrorist attacks are breaking out globally, and within the first few minutes of the game you've killed a freshlyzombified President of the United States.

Split across four individual campaigns - one of which unlocks after you've beaten the first three campaign chapters, and three of which can be played co-operatively with a human or AI partner - each relates to the other, but they offer very distinct tones.

As part of the refreshing process, Capcom have recognised fans' desire to get back to the scarier mood of the original games. It's mostly successful, but you often go for long stretches merely popping zombies in the head.

It is scarier than Resi 5, sure, but lacks the moody rhythm of earlier titles. Multiplayer modes include the new Agent Hunt mode, allowing players to "invade" other gamer's campaigns as playable monsters.

A jack of all horrific trades, Resident Evil 6 is an enjoyable, scare-filled, gory action romp.
