More Weighmaster Units for Unigate

To cope with increasing sales of milk through supermarkets, Unigate is having to install more equipment. Thus, it is currently installing Weighmaster units to fill plastics containers at three of its dairies. The first unit has been delivered to the Westway Dairy in Shepherds Bush and the others will be installed at Headcorn and Bournemouth later on.

Manufactured in France by Serac, these weigh-fill machines are marketed in the UK by their agents Engelmann and Buckham Machinery Ltd of Alton. E and B estimate that conventional fillers probably overfill by 10 to 15g a bottle but by utilizing the strain gauge technology of the Weighmasters this give-away can be practically eliminated, they reckon.
