Molson will redeem year-old debentures.

After failing to make an acquisition in the brewing industry, Canada's Molson Cos. has announced it will redeem more than $130 million in debentures that the company issued last year to the planned expansion.

"We have not found anything that we consider an opportunity that we would wish to take advantage of," Molson spokesperson Hershell Ezrin told the Wall Street Journal last week.

Ezrin noted that Molson will now begin an acquisition search in non-brewing industries, including entertainment and retailing.
