Molalla Communications Selects Occam BLC 6000 to Provide More Bandwidth for Delivering Triple Play Services; Oregon Cooperative will Replace Existing DLCs with Occam.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Occam Networks(R) Inc. (OTCBB: OCCM), a supplier of innovative Ethernet- and IP-based loop carrier equipment to telecommunications companies worldwide, today announced that Molalla Communications Co. has selected the Occam BLC 6000(TM) System to upgrade the cooperative's existing remote sites, replacing all of its current digital loop carriers (DLCs) with the Occam BLC.

"We selected Occam because we were very impressed with the company, as well as with the product," said Michael East, president and CEO of Molalla. "It is important to Molalla to have a broadband partner rather than just a product vendor. Among all the vendors that we evaluated, the Occam team continually demonstrated their ability and willingness to help us deliver affordable, reliable advanced broadband services to our subscribers."

Molalla is committed to providing its subscribers with the most advanced services possible, services such as high-speed data, video, high definition TV and Voice over IP (VoIP). To deliver these high-bandwidth services requires that the company upgrade its access network to Ethernet and IP immediately and to upgrade its entire circuit-based network to Ethernet and IP at a future date. Molalla will eventually phase out its Nortel DMS10 switch and move to a softswitch architecture. The telco believes that using Ethernet- and IP-based products will be less expensive to install, will result in reduced network operating costs, and will increase staff productivity since it requires a smaller team to manage and operate the network and to provision new services.

Molalla began the search for a broadband loop carrier in early 2005, evaluating products from a total of four manufacturers before selecting the Occam BLC. The company selected the BLC 6000 for its high level of functionality, its potential to deliver a broad array of advanced services in the future and its ability to scale elegantly to meet growing subscriber demand. Molalla trialed the BLC 6000 before making a decision. According to East, "The trial went flawlessly. Our technicians were very impressed."

"Our proven expertise and broad experience with Ethernet and IP enables us to help telcos like Molalla meet their key objectives and overcome the challenges associated with this transition," said Russ Sharer, vice president of sales and marketing for Occam. "Our customers continue to give Occam high marks for its experience and knowledge and to be extremely pleased with the functionality, flexibility and scalability of our products."
