Mohammed to hold frequent Media Majlis.
DUBAI -- His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, famed for his enthusiastic use of social media, has shown his eagerness to embrace media across the board.
The Ruler has announced plans to meet people involved in the media industry four times a year for an "informal gathering", according to a spokesman.
Director-General of The Government of Dubai Media Office Mona Al Marri said the purpose of the meetings -- to be designated the 'Mohammed Bin Rashid Media Majlis' -- was for Shaikh Mohammed to listen to a variety of views, thoughts and suggestions from the media industry, both from the UAE and other countries.
"The initiative highlights Shaikh Mohammed's clear commitment to the media sector which mirrors the hopes, aspirations and requirements of the society and is regarded as a source of influence," Al Marri said in a Ppress release.
The move follows on from a media meeting Shaikh Mohammed conducted last month with an array of media professionals and staff from local news agencies. During the meeting, which took place at the Government of Dubai Media Office headquarter a month earlier, Shaikh Mohammed listened to ideas and suggestions put forward by media experts, that tackled major internal media issues of concern to the community.
Al Marri said the meeting would not be confined to media organisation leaders, but would provide equal opportunity for everybody to take part.
