Modern PCO established at Distt Jail.

FAISALABAD -- A state-of-the-art PCO (Public Call Office) based on advanced technology has been established in District Jail Faisalabad for providing facility to the prisoners.

Punjab Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan inaugurated the PCO in District Jail here on Tuesday and reviewed the technology and procedure. MPA Sh. Ejaz Ahmad, DIG Prisons Rana Abdul Rauf, Superintendent Jail Rana Razaullah Khan and other jail officers were present on the occasion. The Minister was informed that the 20 booths had been set up in PCO and all calls of the prisoners would be recorded through advanced technology. He was further informed that the prisoner callers would have to dial special code first before doing a call and can make telephone call to

their relatives one time in a week. One prisoner can avail 20 minutes for talking but a call would be of five minutes duration which would automatically be disconnected after five minutes. Rs.2/- per minute of

call would be charged from the prisoners. The minister expressed his satisfaction over the most advanced PCO established in the jail.

Later, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, while addressing to the prisoners said that the prisons had been transformed into reforms houses and the old concept of jails pertaining of tortures had been finished.

He said that the arrangements had been made for imparting prisoners with proper mental and spiritual training besides providing healthy and pleasant environment in the jails for making the prisoners useful citizens.

The minister directed the the jail administration to take-care of self-respect of the prisoners which was very important with the other facilities.

DIG Prisons Rana Abdul Rauf said that the present government had taken a number of measures for the strengthening of jail system and foolproof security arrangements had been ensured in and around the jails.
