Model pro Ighalo 'up to speed' EXCLUSIVE.
Byline: AARON FLANAGAN
ODION IGHALO is pulling out all the stops in a bid to make a dream Manchester United debut against Chelsea.
Ighalo is still on cloud nine after securing his lastgasp loan move from Chinese team Shanghai Shenhua.
He jets off for warmweather training in Marbella today with the rest of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad. But the hard work has already begun, with his first week since landing in the UK spent entirely in the gym.
The former Watford striker met with personal performance coach Wayne Richardson to get him in the best possible shape for a potential debut at the Bridge on Monday week.
Richardson, who works with a host of top-level players, says Ighalo is going above and beyond to make the most of his opportunity.
Richardson said: "This guy has come in and from dot one, he is like, 'What have I got to do, I need to be ready, I have got to do the right things'.
"Sometimes with people like that, they can be overenthusiastic, but this guy is the model pro." Ighalo's time in Manchester has been solely focused on his fitness, with some days lasting until gone 10pm.
Richardson added: "We have done 20-metre sprint tests, some isometric testing for his hamstrings, worked on his arm strength, shoulder strength, upper body strength. He looks sharp." | |Odion Ighalo has been training with Richardson Sport performance coaching. For more information, head to www.richardsonsport.co.uk
