Mocking justice.

Byline: Joe Riley

WHAT true justice lies ahead for the disabled Dovecot woman, beleaguered and taunted in her home for six months, before seeing her pet dog slashed and hung on a stake, and suffering a knife-attack herself ?

The culprits shouldn't see the light of day for 20 or more years, and with no question of remission.

But little hope of that when three sex attackers, who filmed themselves gang-raping a disabled 16-year-old girl, before dousing her in caustic soda (in the hope it would destroy forensic evidence), were given one nine-year and two six-year sentences by a London court.

As is the usual nonsense, two will serve half their sentences. One will be free within little more than two years. All will still be in their early 20s.However, their victim, who has a mental age of eight, and fell into a coma after the attack, will be affected for life.

Campaigners labelled the sentences "insultingly low".

I call them criminally inadequate.

Little wonder that the attorney general is reviewing the case.
