MoUs for boosting research - UET-P to dev solar cells.
University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar has been granted Rs. 13.635 million to acquire equipment for developing third generation' solar cells based on novel materials for stable, low cost and high efficiency dye sensitized solar cells for SMEs. This is one of the MoUs signed by Khyber Directorate of Sciences and Technology with Khyber universities for enhancing/ promoting Product Oriented Research'. The MoUs cover: 1. Alternative Energy Resources; 2. Health; 3. Pharmacy; 4. Chemical Sciences and 5. Material Sciences. MoU 1 (cost Rs. 17.4 m) will help set up a Molecular Laboratory at Khyber Medical University to fill the specialty gap in molecular diagnostics of hepatitis, dengue fever, human finger printing and rare human genetic disorders. It will boost research and enhance quality training of MPhil and PhD research.
MoU 2, mentioned above (cost Rs.13.635 m) was with UET; MoU 3 (cost Rs.13.454 m) for preparing Nano Pharmaceuticals in University of Peshawar (UoP) for developing innovative technology for producing novel Nano-technological formulations of chemotherapeutic agents. It will help national and local industry develop innovative technology for safe and targeted delivery of cheap anticancer drugs.MoU 4 (cost Rs. 18.96 m) will help prepare multipurpose nonporous polymers at Institute of Chemical Sciences through live cell-imaging and cancer dosimetry' by Material Research Lab of UoP.MoU 5 (cost Rs. 27.403 m) covers preparing transition metals and rare earth doped Nano materials' for use in lasers and telecom..n
