MoH to launch code for 'stroke'.

Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MoH) will launch today the Oman National Stroke Guideline under the patronage of Minister of Health Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Saidi. It took about two years to prepare the guideline which was a result of two years of collective work by doctors from the Royal Hospital and the British Royal College of Physicians in London (RCP). Aimed at improving the quality of care available to those suffering stroke in Oman, the initiative would help in standardising the stroke care practices and also positively impact the health care staff dealing with stroke patients, and their relatives or other people concerned. Dr Jaber Al Khabouri, who chaired the Omani side in preparing the guidelines and a senior consultant neurologist at the Royal Hospital, said, "The guideline consists of an introduction and four chapters, first of which deals with programmes involved in the treatment of a stroke, the second with provisions involved in stroke care as also in the case of an acute stroke, the third with the systems underlying stroke management and the fourth deals with the rehabilitation of patients suffering a stroke."
