Mixed advice leaves tourists facing dilemma; TRAVEL.

THE Foreign Office did not advise holiday-makers to delay trips to Mexico and the US yesterday - but the EU said non-essential travel should be avoided.

The contradictory advice left tourists having to make their own judgment call on whether to go.

Ministers simply advised visitors to stay away from crowds and not shake hands or kiss anyone there.

The Foreign Office website added: "Maintaining a distance of at least 6ft from people and frequent hand washing may decrease risks." But EU Health Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou warned: "People should avoid travelling to Mexico or the USt unless the trip is very urgent for them." The US disputed this advice, saying: "I would not put out a travel restriction against coming here." The World Health Organisation also did not advise against travel..
