Mix of myth and music; ANDY WILLOUGHBY & BOB BEAGRIE, .THE WAW ITING ROOM, EAGLESCLIFFE.

EAGLESCLIFFE venue The Waiting Room continues to brighten up Sunday nights with a packed programme of sounds.

On the bill this weekend is a mix of mythology-inspired spoken word, ambient sound and newly-forged electronica which will be followed up next weekend with a cosy selection of fireside acoustica - just right for a chilly February evening.

|Middlesbrough wordsmiths Andy Willoughy and Bob Beagrie have joined forces to explore the links between 21st century Teesside life and the ancient Finnish mythologies drawn upon by JRR Tolkien while writing The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings. Expect passionate, multi-voice readings in an exhilarating roller-coaster ride - Bob will also be performing as Project Lono, presenting a collection of his poetry set to the soundscapes of electronic musician SJ Forth. Quidgybopper will also take to the stage - North-eastern 'electro-monk' Jon Fleming promises beat-filled electronica augmented by Whitby's own Raven King, Blue-John Benjamin in what will be their first collaborative live performance.

Sunday February 15 sees The Winter Hill Transmission at The Waiting Room.

Named after the 1000-foot television transmitter constructed to bring the programmes of Granada TV to Bolton and Chorley, they bring a warm-heated, eccentric brand of acoustic pop with a harmony-drenched quality.

The band are currently working on their long-awaited debut album but have taken time out of the studio to bring a selection of their finest broadcasts to the Waiting Room.

Support comes from North Yorkshire singer-songwriter George Boomsma.
