Mitsui Petrochemical increases production.

Plans to increase synthetic pulp by 1000 tons in the fall of 1992 and by a further 2000 tons in late 1993 have been announced by Mitsui Petrochemical, Tokyo, Japan. Current "SWP" synthetic Pulp production is 12,000 tons annually. Mitsui is the sole producer of synthetic pulp in the world, following Hercules' departure from the market two years ago. The increases in production are in an effort to supply a growing demand for SWP for paper materials and as a substitute for asbestos both in domestic and foreign markets.
