Mitsubishi Fuso to recall 170,000 trucks, buses over fuel leaks.

TOKYO, Nov. 15 Kyodo

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp. notified the transport ministry on Thursday that it will recall 170,845 Fighter and Canter trucks, and Rosa microbuses produced between July 2003 and July 2011 over possible fuel leaks due to defective and improperly installed fuel pipes, the ministry said.

Nissan Motor Co. also reported to the ministry the same day that it will recall 2,870 Civilian microbuses produced between October 2004 and August 2007 because they use engines manufactured by Mitsubishi Fuso, according to the ministry.

The recalls come after 135 cases of fuel leak problems were reported to Mitsubishi Fuso and five similar cases to Nissan. No accidents due to the fuel leaks have been reported, according to the ministry.
