Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp.

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp. has sold 10 of its Canter Eco hybrid trucks to Irish utility company ESB. The utility plans to use the vehicles for customer service and for infrastructure maintenance in Ireland. The Irish government has granted a special permit for the Japanese hybrid trucks.

Together with another 10 hybrid trucks ordered in Australia, these are the first deliveries of series-production Fuso Canter Eco Hybrids outside of Japan. These hybrids are also currently running in a fleet test in the United Kingdom. Mitsubishi said that it is planning to expand its hybrid trucks business into targeted export markets starting in 2010.
