Misty view inspires name of dream home.

Byline: Alison Young

THE beautiful misty view which greeted Stuart and Janet Robertson each morning provided inspiration for the name of their Vale home.

It was nearly two decades ago that the couple moved into the brand new individually designed property in Vale View, Port Road, Barry and promptly named it Jacolantern.

"We named the house Jacolantern because it is the Welsh slang for will o' the wisp and typically, three mornings out of five, the whole valley is full of a thick dense mist resembling a pure white cloud, and this can last for up to an hour before the heat of the morning sun burns off the cloud. It's a fantastic sight," said Mr Robertson.

"We have lived here for 19 years and loved every minute of it. We were involved throughout the design stage, adding any final touches to the detail that we thought necessary to get the dream home that we were looking for.

"Vale View is extremely private and has a quiet location with fabulous views in to the valley across the Vale of Glamorgan. We never get tired of the panoramic view which is constantly changing due to weather conditions and the seasons.

"We have never taken the view for granted as it is truly wonderful, and the sunsets can also be amazing."

The Robertson's home is just one of three houses set back from a private close.

It is set in just over half an acre of grounds and for the keen golfers, it is in a perfect location as it is just a few yards from Brynhill Golf Club.

The property's striking views over rolling fields and hills can be enjoyed from every window at the back.

The master bedroom benefits from a dressing room as well as an en suite bathroom.

The landscaped back garden is mainly laid to lawn and has shaped borders of shrubs and plants, an ornamental pond and water feature and also a large private sun patio.

"The only reasons we are now considering moving from Vale View is that we're getting that little bit older, and therefore the garden is getting more difficult for us to manage," added Mr Robertson.

"So we're looking for a retirement bungalow with a smaller garden that's easier to look after. Although we have to say it will be a sad day for us when we finally leave Jacolantern and Vale View."

* The property is on the market for pounds 695,000. For further details or to arrange a viewing please call pa black on 0845 0450461.

INSIDESTORY * The house has an entrance porch, entrance vestibule, cloakroom, study, lounge, dining room, kitchen/breakfast room, utility room, three bedrooms, en suite, family bathroom and double garage.
