Missouri Department of Insurance.

JOHN M. HUFF, director of the MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE, has been appointed to lead a national task force on insurance regulation.

Huff will lead the Solvency Modernization Initiative, which will be examining the solvency framework of the U.S. insurance industry, according to a written statement. The initiative will look for domestic uses of international insurance supervision developments, banking supervision and international accounting standards.

Huff, a former insurance executive, has been the director of the Missouri DOI since he was appointed in February 2009. The SMI was launched in 2008 by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and seeks to do for U.S. regulators' requirements for how insurers disclose risks what Solvency II is doing for their EU counterparts.
