Missing boy, 7, found dead on building site.
Police searching for missing sevenyear-old Conley Thompson had checked the building site where he died hours before his body was found by construction workers.
Fifty officers and a police helicopter had joined the hunt for Conley after he failed to arrive home from playing in a park with pals.
But officers who visited the site - where Conley had been caught playing on other occasions - believed its gates and perimeter fence were secure.
Conley's heartbroken gran Deborah Fraser said he had died after slipping into a pipe and getting trapped.
Deborah added: "We know he's got through a small hole in top of the site, and because it's been wet he's slid and gone into a vertical pipe. He's been known to go in there before and we've told him not to. I hate to think what his little mind was going through. His mother is devastated, we all are."
Conley was discovered by workers at 8.30am yesterday. Neighbours told yesterday how round-the-clock security had stopped at the site in Barnsley, South Yorks, a fortnight ago, allowing Conley and other children to get inside.
One woman who lives opposite said: "He's been playing in there for two weeks. He's been going a few times with other boys, I've seen them playing on the diggers."
Police are treating the death as unexplained. The site was sealed off yesterday.
