Mirantes to be honored at May 21 Alvin Ailey event.

On May 21, The Alley returns to the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem, "where stars are born and legends are made." The one-night-only event will feature performances by artists of the world famous Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the dynamic young dancers from Alley II and talented students of The Alley School.

This unprecedented performance will begin at 7 p.m. at the Apollo Theater (253 West 125th St., between 7th and 8th Avenues) and will be followed by a gala reception. Celebrity guests include: Yolanda Adams, Missy Elliot, Jasmine Guy and Gerald Levert.

Ailey at the Apollo! will be especially memorable as the Company will honor Arthur J. Mirante II, vice chairman of The Alley's Board of Trustees and President and CEO of Cushman & Wakefield, and his wife Elizabeth, in recognition of their leadership and guidance for Alley's new building (This state-of-the-art facility is currently under construction at 55th Street and 9th Avenue in Manhattan).

Co-chairs for the gala are: Lynne and Anthony M. Carvette, Katherine Farley and Jerry I. Speyer, and Janice Savin Williams and Christopher J. Williams. Vice chairs for the gala are: Bruce E. Mosler, president, U.S. operations for Cushman & Wakefield, Raymond Quartararo and Daniel R. Tishman. Festive dress required. Prices for the gala tickets range from $150 to $450. Proceeds from the gala will provide scholarship assistance to talented students of The Alley School. This internationally renowned training institution serves approximately 3,500 students annually, offering more than 200 classes a week. The Alley School's Fellowship Program provides tuition assistance for gifted students from around the world who would otherwise not be able to pursue professional training at The Alley School. The Alley School is the official school of the prestigious and critically acclaimed Alvin Alley American Dance Theater.
