Miranda: iCarly's Miranda Cosgrove may be one of Nickelodeon's brightest stars, but this down-to-earth girl has her feet planted firmly on the ground.

It's photoshoot day for Miranda Cosgrove, but when the star of Nickelodeons iCarly arrives--right on time--there's huge diva drama goin' on at the Hollywood studio.

Another session is running late, stress is peaking and an army of photographers and publicists is buzzing like bees around several A-list actresses. Each one has her own hair and makeup people, her own wardrobe requests, her own BFFs in tow and her own attitude (when one actress was unhappy she was the first to arrive, she stayed in her stretch limo until the others showed up).

In the middle of the chaos, Miranda, 15, silently walks in with her mom and dad. No limo (they drove the family car), no red-carpet demands (not even bottled water or a bite from the catered buffet) and no entourage (her teacher came later, but that's the law for kid and teen actors on set). Not wanting to interrupt the crazy scene, Miranda quietly stands at the back wall until I notice her.

"Hello," she smiles as I apologize for not greeting her when she first arrived. But Miranda apologizes right back. "It looks like we're early. Should I wait somewhere where I won't be in the way?"

It's hard to believe this totally poised, professional and sweet girl is Nickelodeon's biggest star. Her main gig, iCarly, is now in its second season (Saturdays at 8 p.m. ET on Nick). The iCarly movie iGo to Japan premieres in November, and she just filmed Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh where she'll reprise her roll as Megan Parker (out in December). The actress also has vocal talent, and has four songs on the iCarly soundtrack and is prepping tracks for her first solo CD.

Miranda may be everywhere these days, but the weird thing is, people don't know much about her. She doesn't do a thousand interviews, isn't all over gossip blogs and Google searches don't help much. Miranda may play a web superstar on TV, but she doesn't have much in common with her alter ego Carly Shay. You won't find her making goofy webcam shows like her character or posting DIY YouTube videos like the Disney Channel girls. She never goes onto message boards and only used Facebook once.

But Miranda does have one high-tech habit: "I IM all the time. Ever since I talked my dad into letting me trade my Sidekick for an iPhone, it's my favorite thing in the world. I love it because I can leave it on all day and always be in touch with my friends."

As if on cue, her iPhone chimes with an incoming message. It's one of her best friends, Cat. "We talk on the phone three times a day at least, but we IM at least 30 times. She recently got her first boyfriend so she's been telling me everything. I've never had a boyfriend before, so it's sort of crazy talking to her about that."

At 15, Miranda's in no rush to get a BF, though she's starting to think about it. "All of a sudden, my girlfriends are going on dates, so maybe I'll start soon, too," she says.

Let's just hope her future dates go smoother than her first disastrous attempt in fifth grade. "I went to see a Harry Potter movie with a guy that I had a huge crush on. It was sort of a double date because my friend came along. When he leaned over to kiss my cheek in the middle of the movie, my friend hit him on the back of the head. She thought she was protecting me," she giggles. "He never tried to kiss me again, but we're still friends. He makes fun of me all the time for it."

As for her celeb crushes, "Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kutcher are cute, and I love Shia LaBeouf," she says, before poking a little fun at herself. "But I don't think any of them are likely to go to my Sadie Hawkins dance with me, do you?"

Miranda gets another message and peeks at her iPhone. No, it's not a dance invitation from a superstar hunk. It's her iCarly co-star, Jennette McCurdy, just saying hey. Like an Olympic gold medalist multitasker, Miranda then texts her iCarly producer Dan Schneider while taking another second to IM Drake Bell, too. (She gets his away message: "Doin' stuff.")

It's obvious that the Nick cast and crew is super tight--enough that they're 100 percent comfortable goofing on each other. "Jennette and I ding-dong-ditch the guys' dressing rooms all the time," Miranda confesses. "We knock on their door and run." She learned on-set pranks from the best: Drake once filled her bathroom with shaving cream. She got even by filling his shoes with the white stuff. "He wasn't happy."

Hangin' and playin' with a celebrity hottie may be every girl's dream, but Miranda seems totally unphased. "All my girl friends have crushes on Drake, which is weird because that's like having your friends crush on your brother. I've known him since I was 8." She tells me about her next-door neighbor, Nina, who's plastered her bedroom walls with pics of him. "She's in love. I brought her to the set one day to meet him, and when he said hello, I thought she was going to faint. If Drake shook her hand, I would have had to call an ambulance."

At least she would have had her iPhone handy to dial 911. Another message pops up. Coincidentally, it's Nina, asking about her birthday plans. "We're trying to talk our morns into letting us go to the Wango Tango concert with Miley and the Jonas Brothers, then have a sleepover," she tells me.

Whatever she does to celebrate, it'll beat the time her birthday literally crashed and burned. "My dad gave me a go-kart. It was so cool," she says, "until I ran it into a wall."

Maybe Miranda should scratch a car off her wish list? "Exactly," she shrugs. "When I mention that I'm almost ready to train for my license, my mom says, 'Remember the go-kart?' At this rate, I don't think they'll let me drive until I'm 55!"

The Icarly star confesses all!

I, Miranda, secretly dream of being ...

"... a tennis champion. Too bad I'm not good a all.'"

I, Miranda, am totally obsessed with ...

"... TV and movies. I watch Grey's Anatomy all the time, and I love America's Next Top Model and American Idol. Or I'll stay up really late and watch movies--I'm a huge night owl."

I, Miranda, can't believe that my best friend ...

"... just got her first kiss! She called me right afterward."

I, Miranda, miss seeing Drake and Josh every day because ...

"... they're the two most awesome guys ever. Drake [Bell] used to play the guitar and serenade me. Then, Josh [Peck] is hysterical. By the end of the day, my ribs would hurt from laughing!"

I, Miranda, can't believe that my mom makes me ...

"... clean my room all the time! But she's the coolest. We only fight about homework, because I wait until the very last minute."

I, Miranda, am shocked by the crazy rumor I heard ...

"... about me dating a Sprouse twin. So not true!"

I, Miranda, am scared to death of ...

"... spiders! But won't kill them. I'll open the door, screaming all the way. and hope they walk out. I'm also scared to pierce my ears. I really like earrings but can't get up the courage to do it."

I, Miranda, totally stink at ...

"... cooking. I can pour a bowl of cereal but that's it."

I, Miranda, confess that I ...

"... sing in the shower--loudly! Once the neighbors even knocked on the door and were like, 'Could you he quiet, please?' That's why my parents made a rule that I can't shower after 11 p.m."

I, Miranda, totally love ...

"... animals, especially my toy poodle, Pearl. And I just rescued three stray kittens. We kept two--even though I'm allergic to them--and Drake took in the third."
