Minivan hits tree; driver taken to hospital.

OXFORD - At least one person was injured when a minivan struck a tree on Route 12 yesterday afternoon.

Police said that around 12:30 p.m., Donna M. Yankus of 4 Beech St. was driving south on Route 12 near School Street. Her 1995 Chevrolet minivan went across the double-solid line, across the northbound lane, and struck a tree on the northbound side of Route 12.

Oxford Emergency Medical Service extricated Ms. Yankus from the van, and she was taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester. Initial reports suggested another occupant in the vehicle was taken away in an ambulance, but Oxford police could not confirm that yesterday.

The crash is under investigation; no citations were issued at the scene yesterday.
