What do you get when you join the world's biggest copper company and the world's biggest iron ore producer? That's what Chile's state-run copper giant Codelco and Brazilian iron-ore conglomerate Companhia Vale do Rio Doce are trying to figure out.The two recently signed a memorandum of understanding to study the formation of a joint international copper venture. Companhia Vale do Rio Doce, or CVRD, needs a partner to help exploit its copper reserves in Brazil while Codelco is looking to make its international aspirations a reality.
