yZMyR (CyHAN)- Large numbers of minibus drivers participated in a protest in the western province of yzmir to condemn brutal killing of university student named Euzgan Arslan by a minibus driver last week.

Speaking on behalf of the minibus drivers, Taner Uy-uz, head of yzmir Minibus Drivers Chamber, stated that they share grief of Turkish people, which saddened all of the people in the country deeply.

"What distressed us in particular is that the murder was committed in a minibus. We are people who have also children. This is a crime against humanity. Turkish people mourn for Euzgecan. We wish God's mercy upon our unfortunate sister and patience to her family," said Uy-uz.

Uy-uz also said some they introduced some necessary security measures in the minibuses for the safety of the passengers such as installment of GPS devices on the vehicles. With the system, drivers are monitored and fined if they deviate from their routes.

Aslan, a university student, was last seen heading home on a minibus in the afternoon of Feb. 11. Her body was found near the village of Ecamalan, about 40 kilometers from Tarsus on Thursday.
