Min.Harb over domestic workers' offices.

Head of Syndicates of domestic workers' office Hisham Jurdi, has been summoned to the ministry of Labor for a meeting with Labor minister Boutros Harb over domestic violence including the knifing to death of a relative to a house wife by an angry Philippena worker last week.

A deeply disgruntled Labor minister at widely-reported domestic violence wanted to know from Jurdi about transgressions committed by either workers or bureaus "importing" them from overseas. Harb duly wanted those offices to abide by rules and regulations allowing the" importating" of such working women and whether they meet accepted local criteria.

The minister reportedly warned Jurdi against potential transgressions committed by those offices saying they were at pains of accountability for any violations of the law.

He duly demanded uniformity in working contracts with all "incidents being investigated on case- to- case bases. He also wanted a comprehensive report on the office which imported the Philippena with alleged psycho-neurosis saying all domestic maids need to pass medical and psychological check-ups before endangering people's lives and wellbeing.
