Millinet switches to Ikanos chipsets for 50+ MBPS solution.
Millinet previously considered VDSL-Quadrature Amplitude Modification (VDSL-QAM) technology for its systems, but switched to Ikanos once results of the VDSL Olympics were made public, determining the VDSL-DMT technology superior over VDSL-QAM.
"The results of the VDSL Olympics made this selection much easier for our company and our carrier customers," said Lee Sang-Chul, president and chief executive officer of Millinet. "Ikanos' programmable solutions are the only production VDSL chipset on the market that supports 50+ Mbps and the longest reach. The results of the VDSL Olympics prove that Ikanos chipsets and the VDSL-DMT standard are the only choice for companies developing future-proof technologies that offer services now."
"Major VDSL equipment vendors and carriers worldwide are recognizing the decisive outcome of the VDSL Olympics," said Rajesh Vashist, president and chief executive officer at Ikanos. "DMT unequivocally outperformed QAM technology in both the mandatory and optional tests. Carriers can now very confidently accelerate the deployment of VDSL-DMT for their services, without fear of any change in standards in the future. Millinet's decision to select Ikanos programmable VDSL-DMT chipsets is proof of this momentum."
Founded in 1999 and based in Silicon Valley, Ikanos Communications has created a new class of silicon that serves the entire range of worldwide broadband markets and applications with a single programmable chipset. Ikanos' industry-leading A/VDSL chipset solution includes the SmartLeap family for Broadband Access Concentrators and the CleverConnect for Customer Premise Equipment. These chipsets enable equipment vendors to serve many different carriers worldwide while slashing time to market and lowering development, manufacturing, and inventory costs. Ikanos also offers the Ikanos Programmable Operating System (iPOS), which consists of firmware and APIs. iPOS enables equipment vendors to dynamically configure LRFE, EFM, VDSL-DMT 998, VDSL-DMT 997, VDSL-DMT Flex, ADSL, ADSL2, and ADSL2+ on Ikanos chipsets.
