Milliken Introduces Technical Gear for Your Feet; Fabric Innovator Partners with Harriss & Covington to Deliver New Odor-Fighting Socks with Moisture Management and Stain Release.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Milliken & Company(R), one of the world's largest privately-held textile and chemical manufacturers, announces today the availability of VisaEndurance(R) odor-fighting technology for socks, in partnership with Harriss & Covington Hosiery Mills. VisaEndurance is Milliken's propriety technology that combines long-lasting, effective odor control with moisture management and stain release capabilities in a durable application process. New sock stylings are being developed now for national brands and private labels in the outdoor, sporting goods and hunting markets.

The first brand to adopt the new odor-fighting technology is Scent-Lok Technologies(R), a leading hunting apparel manufacturer. Scent-Lok introduced the industry's first dual-action odor controlling hunting sock this summer, made exclusively for them by Harriss & Covington. The socks combine VisaEndurance's durable anti-microbial finish to help control the growth of odor-causing bacteria with Scent-Lok's odor-adsorbing technology to capture those few odors that do form. The lightweight moisture-wicking socks are ideal for moderate temperatures and will reduce human foot odor in any hunting situation, helping to ensure a comfortable and successful hunting experience.

Other national brands of socks that leverage Milliken's VisaEndurance odor-fighting technology will be available this winter.

"As a hosiery mill specializing in casual and performance socks for numerous high-end brands, we are always on the lookout for innovations that can add value to our products and to our customers' brands," said Ned Covington, president of Harriss & Covington Hosiery Mills. "VisaEndurance odor control technology is a natural fit for sock products. We tested antimicrobial yarns but they were largely ineffective. Other treatments wash off in less than five to 10 washes. VisaEndurance really works. It's durable to more than 50 washes, and you can still have a white sock if that's what you want. It simply outperforms other odor control technologies on the market and we can put it on any synthetic or cotton blended sock in your line. Its versatility, durability and easy-care features make it an ideal choice for new product development."

"Harriss & Covington is known for its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Their development of VisaEndurance-based socks will be a welcomed innovation at retail," said Lyn Murajda, division brand manager of the Apparel and Specialty Division at Milliken. "We're also proud to have Scent-Lok as our first sock customer. Scent-Lok spent several years trying to find the right technology for a sock that helped them deliver the Scent-Lok promise of true scent control for hunters. It says a lot that our VisaEndurance technology was selected to work in tandem with their odor-adsorbing technology."

Milliken will demonstrate the technical performance and advantages of VisaEndurance odor-fighting socks at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2006 tradeshow in Salt Lake City, August 10-13, 2006 at exhibitor booth number 5953.
