Millennium Youth Games (MYG).
After numerous trials, a total of 115 young people from 12 years to 15, from around the region have been selected for the event on Saturday, July 8 where they'll be aiming to make an impact in varying sporting activities including basketball, netball, athletics, football, rugby and swimming.
Simon Jones, Sports Development Officer for the Borough Council, said: "The Millennium Games is bigger than the forthcoming Commonwealth Games to be held in Manchester.
"The MYG is a series of regional sporting events which will result in a Grand Final to be held in Southampton in August this year. Team managers from local sports clubs have been chosen by the Sports development team and 115 youngsters selected to represent the Borough."
He added: "This is a fantastic competition and a great opportunity for young people to compete in a friendly and safe environment. I wish all our teams the best of luck.
