The Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command is a unique Army command that delivers world-class, origin-to-destination distribution solutions. Whenever and wherever Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen are deployed, SDDC is involved in planning and executing the surface delivery of their equipment and supplies.

SDDC links the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise with the Army's Materiel Enterprise as the Army's Service Component Command of US Transportation Command, and a major subordinate command to Army Materiel Command. This unique position allows SDDC to serve as a bridge--connecting the capabilities of these supporting enterprises to the requirements of the supported combatant commands.

Serving as Department of Defense's global surface transportation expert, SDDC plans, books, ships, and tracks cargo; conducts port operations; and manages personal property moves for Warfighters, other federal employees, and their families.

SDDC's Transportation Engineering Agency is responsible for improving the global deployability and sustainment of US Armed Forces by providing DOD with transportation engineering, policy guidance, research, and analytical expertise supporting the National Military Strategy.

SDDC delivers transportation and distribution solutions, operates all commonuser seaports worldwide and influences more than $5 billion in commercial truck, rail, barge, ocean transportation, and personal property services.

SDDC partners with the best of US commercial shipping, port, trucking, and rail services to deliver cargo and personal property to every corner of the globe supporting DOD contingencies, exercises and humanitarian aid missions.
