Middlesex Savings Bank Chooses VSoft's eDesk Imaging Software.

Imaging Solutions Increase Efficiencies, Cut Costs

ATLANTA -- VSoft Corporation, a global information and technology provider of process-improvement tools for financial institutions, announced that Middlesex Savings Bank has chosen to implement its Check 21 compliant eDesk family of imaging software solutions. Middlesex Savings Bank is the 2nd largest mutual bank in Massachusetts, and the 6th largest mutual bank in the country, with assets exceeding $3.3 billion and 24 branch locations. The imaging solutions implemented for Middlesex include Image Capture, Genesis (Check 21), Image Statements, Image Research, CD Distribution, Branch Item Capture, Merchant Capture, and Fraud In-Check.

"Advances in check imaging have allowed us to save time and money in transporting checks from branches to our processing center and then on to the Federal Reserve," said Chuck Bauer, executive vice president and chief technology officer, Middlesex Savings Bank. "We were impressed with VSoft's all-encompassing eDesk imaging solutions. Our new system provides a more streamlined approach to check imaging as well as a wide range of reporting and research tools to access archived images."

The eDesk product family is designed to help financial institutions capitalize on changing technologies while experiencing greater time and labor efficiencies. It allows for powerful search and rapid display capabilities as well as image distribution. Through the eDesk Portal, Middlesex bank managers are given a single point of access for all enterprise-wide systems, presenting the same look and feel across all host screens. The modular portal design eliminates the need to run multiple programs for multiple solutions, allowing seamless integration among all products in the eDesk family.

The Branch Item Capture and Merchant Capture solutions enable Middlesex Savings Bank to capture check images at remote locations rather than physically transporting them to the central location. The images and MICR data are electronically sent to Middlesex Savings Bank's central operation center throughout the day extending the window for accepting deposits and expediting the check clearing process.

Using VSoft's eDesk Genesis, Middlesex can exchange check images received from its branch and merchant locations in compliance with Check 21 legislation. eDesk Genesis allows Middlesex to exchange electronic cash letters with images with the Federal Reserve, directly with financial institutions, or print substitute checks if an endpoint cannot receive electronic cash letters.

"Middlesex Savings Bank is realizing the savings and operational efficiencies provided by our imaging technologies," said Murthy Veeraghanta, president, VSoft Corporation. "In addition to saving on transportation costs related to check clearing, Middlesex will also benefit from improved operation processes for check archiving in both bank branches and commercial customer locations. Additionally, VSoft's remote capture solutions enable employees both at the bank branch and merchant location to capture the item's data and image at their locations."
