Microspace and Motorola Announce New Shared RF-C! Satellite Service.

FT. WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 1998--Motorola and Microspace Communications announced Wednesday that they are offering a shared service that couples Microspace's proven satellite broadcasting technology with Motorola's newest control platform, RF-Conductor! (RF-C!).

This service allows paging carriers to gain the full advantages of the RF-C! controller, while purchasing only the satellite bandwidth required for their business and minimizing the paging operator's up-front capital cost. The shared RF-C! service supports all the current digital paging formats, including FLEX(TM).

According to John Bimrose, senior account manager, Microspace, "Offering the shared RF-C! service is a logical extension to Microspace's family of shared paging services. Microspace has many customers on our shared C-NET services which have been in place since 1992. The shared RF-C! is particularly appealing to mid-size carriers with heavier traffic utilization."

Motorola's RF-Conductor! controller works with either one-way or two-way paging systems.

It interfaces with every component of the paging system and controls all major functions including the batching and scheduling of outbound paging, the coordination of two-way inbound responses and originated transmissions, retransmissions as required, and the return of two-way page status information and replies to the paging terminal.

RF-C! extends network capacity and provides best-in-class satellite link efficiency through control transmitters.
