Microsoft fine threat.

Byline: MATT KELLY

MICROSOFT could face a pounds 2billion fine if it is found to have misled an investigation into whether it broke anti-monopoly laws.

Investigators are looking at whether Bill Gates' computer firm may have faked some of the 34 letters it gave to the European Commission to support its case.

A source said: "Inside the corridors of the commission there's a lot of anger about the way Microsoft have behaved during this investigation."

The EU is looking at whether Microsoft illegally dominated the market with Windows and Office. It denies the claims.
