Microsoft Surface Tablet Draws A 'Wow' From Oprah.

There's some good news for Microsoft as the recently launched Surface tablet has drawn a "Wowser," from the celebrity talk show Czarina - Oprah Winfrey.

Stating that Microsoft's first tablet feels like a Mercedes-Benz to her, Oprah wrote on her (http://www.oprah.com/gift/Microsoft-Surface-Tablet) website: "The full-size keyboard built right into the cover makes work easy, the very smart kickstand makes watching a movie or Skyping a friend a delight, the less than a pound-and-a-half weight makes a great alternative to a laptop, and the many other features make it fun for work and play. Now, that's a wowser!"

The Surface Tablet launched Oct.26, to largely positive reviews though it has not attracted the kind of attention won by the market leader iPad.

Also, on Oprah's list of "Favorite Things," are mainstream gadgets such $1,800 Jetson electric bike and $5,000 Bose TV.

As for Apple's iPad, the talk show queen was floored with the device, way back in 2010, as it debuted in her "Ultimate Favorite Things" list and also featured in her long running daytime show in 2011, Mashable has reported.

Commenting on Apple's iPad, Oprah had stated: "Words cannot describe what I feel for this magnificent device. I really think it's the best invention of the century so far," according to (http://mashable.com/2012/11/01/oprah-endorses-surface/) Mashable.

It is not clear how Oprah's endorsement will increase Surface sales, but according to an Associated Press Survey, close to 69 percent consumers evinced little interest in Surface, PCWorld has reported.

So, Oprah Winfrey's endorsement is literally a boon for the Redmond giant, which recently announced its transition to a devices and services company from software.

The Surface has a 10.6-inch display and weighs 1.5 pounds (680 grams). It starts at $499 for 32GB storage.

Among the accessories available for Surface is a $100 keyboard that doubles as a cover. Though users may take time to acquaint themselves with the feature as it does not provide any tactile feedback, the thin cover clips securely onto the tablet.
