Microchip dog plea.

CLWYD South AM Ken Skates is calling on owners to get their dogs microchipped - and help reduce the number of pets that are put down in Wales.

Labour Assembly Member Mr Skates is backing the Kennel Club's 'Chip it, Check it' campaign.

It is aiming to raise awareness of microchipping before it becomes compulsory in March 2015.

Mr Skates, a dog owner himself, said: The Kennel Club has said that by microchipping dogs and keeping personal details up to date, thousands of otherwise doomed pets could be identified and reunited with their owners instead of facing being put down in the pound."
